It is Sunday again. I spent the week at the office reading manuscripts and listening to '90s pop music playlists on Youtube while I worked. Gracia and I have bonded over our mutual lack of appreciation for Carol Ann Duffy's poetry and our mutual understanding of Zayn Malik's(of One Direction)bad-boy charm. (cue eye-rolling from G)
On Vesak day Qi Yin and woke up early in the morning and cycled from Jurong East to Bukit Batok. Then we had a lovely breakfast at Macdonalds( which I suppose defeated the purpose of setting out to cycle in the first place) before taking the long route back to Jurong. We passed by our old primary school on the way back. We decided to take a selfie at the front gate of the school for posterity's sake. This is when we discovered there are few ways to take a selfie with a building without looking ridiculous.:P Our next stop was this old playground that I remember the teachers brought my class to on the last day of kindergarten. We actually stopped because Qi Yin said, "Look there're swings!" and I said, " Quick, let's go before the kids get there!" However, after rigorous examination we concluded that, and I quote, " the swings suck" because of the high "energy required to kick to height you can swing to" ratio. So we cycled on to the provision shop under one of the flats and bought some ice popsicles.
We were very excited because we hadn't had one of those popsicles in years. I believe the last time I had one was when I was 10 or something. It tasted like PLUM though. Like plum candy, but the gross kind. Then we realised that maybe it's always tasted that way just that we don't remember.
The rather disappointing popsicle makes for a (somewhat) artistic shot.
In other news, I have made some progress on 1984, but I'm taking a break to finish Jolene Tan's "A Certain Exposure" first. I will write more about both when I'm through reading both. I actually have more to say, but I'm unsually tired tonight so I will call this the end of part 1 and continue writing on another day.
In the mean time here's an adorable picture of giraffes. :D
