Will I?

I had a conversation recently with a friend about why we both find it very hard to see the good in ourselves; why compliments slide off our shoulders and we don't try hard enough to remember them.
I had a conversation with a friend some years ago. They told me that my greatest weakness is probably that I refuse to look my own strengths straight in the eye. I shift my eyes nervously at the first hint of admiration, praise or even acknowledgement of my efforts and abilities.
I had a conversation with a friend not so long ago and we concluded that if beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, we see ourselves as the only beholders of our own beauty and that's why compliments don't mean as much as they should.
The questions that remain are: Will I always feel as insecure as a sixteen-year-old and as jaded as blue-collar worker in rush-hour traffic? Will I one day be able to go to bed without reviewing every social interaction of the day and chiding myself when I remember instances when I may have sounded a little impatient or disinterested? Will I?
